What Makes Photographing Santorini So Special:
Santorini’s distinctive architecture makes it one of the most photographic islands anywhere, with its quaint winding alleys and white-washed walls dotted with brightly colored doors, windows, and wonderful splashes of color throughout. Its iconic vivid blue dome roofs give it a unique look that has become a symbol of this beautiful island.
The island has a very artsy feel, and in many places, it looks like scenes were set up and accessories were put in place just for photographers to capture them. The beautiful small villages that dot the island are incredibly picturesque – it’s an island you’ll fall in love with.
The use of natural light on the island’s interiors gives it an open and inviting look that opens all sorts of photographic opportunities. It has extraordinary beaches and stunning views of the nearby islands, surrounded by crisp blue waters, castles, and fascinating historical sites.
The Mediterranean and Greek cuisine food scene in Santorini is incredible, and the restaurants and Greek Tavernas are as charming as they are delectable, featuring fresh seafood and local produce (including Scott’s wife’s all-time favorite tomatoes). Santorini is also renowned for its wine and its unique winemaking process.
Travel & Leisure magazine named Santorini “The most Instagrammable of the Greek Islands,” and Santorini was named one of the top travel destinations for 2024 by Tripadvisor, who included it in their “Best of the Best Destinations” list.
